I am fairly impressed with how much you can actually do with Capriccio over Action Strings (and Strikes, put together!) Just for the strings part alone, there are quite a few phrases, plus variations, harmonic shifts and more. So because of this thread, I researched SonoKinetic, who I am surprised I've never heard of before, and after seeing what all they had to offer, bought Capriccio.
#FREE VST STRINGS LIKE ACTION STRINGS TV#
I've seen 5 TV shows this past couple of weeks where I immediately recognized Action Strings/Strikes and Dark Zebra (the composer didn't even bother to tweak the Dark Zebra presets to make it his own. It seems like Action Strings has more string phrases, but they might not be as varied as Sonokinetic's.? anyone else, could you confirm that?I have Action Strings and have been a little disappointed on how limiting it is, but even more disappointed at how recognizable it and Action Strikes are these days. I have not had dealings with them directly, but based on their interactions on the VI forum, they seem like the type of folk who would be easy to approach and deal with.

Leap of faith, yanno? Also, you can try emailing the Sono guys with any Qs you may have, if you think it will help you get a better idea of what the libs really offer. Have you seriously considered purchasing one or two of these? I know they aren't cheap, but sometimes you just have to go for it. I have no experience with the Sono libs you mentioned, but I am pretty sure you are getting more than just strings - that the libs are the entire orchestra, no? In that case, you might find the strings are not as in depth as you are hoping, as the focus is not just on strings, but everything. It just does not sound the same - period.īut I also agree about the flexibility not being there. The phrases in phrase-based libs are - assuming the musicians and engineering are up to snuff - always going to beat the underoos off of creating phrases from individual samples. It's kind of like how a sustain pedal on a piano causes sympathetic vibration of other strings. Thanks, but I'm not looking to just "get there." I'm looking for the realism that comes with recordings of multiple notes / ie: phrases.
